Everything in life contains a level of risk, from walking down the street to following your dreams.
We assess the levels of risk based on our past experiences and on what we believe about ourselves, and this determines our choices.
Walking down the street = a lifetime of experience + I have good knowledge of road and personal safety + nothing bad has happened before in this situation = low risk = not a problem to carry out this task.
Whereas; Following our dreams = little previous experience + I’m probably not good enough + it might fail = high risk = I don’t feel safe in carrying out this task.
Therefore, we happily walk down the street without a second thought, but don’t follow our dreams because we deem it as too risky.
But what we don’t realise is that by keeping ourselves ‘safe’, we are actually keeping ourselves from reaching our full potential in life. We are, in effect, keeping ourselves small.
We have to learn to take risks, but in order to do this we have to summon the self belief that, actually, we might just be good enough, we might just be able to make a success of our life, and that in reality, we are the only ones standing in our way.
A little self belief and courage can go a long, long way.
As long as you believe in yourself and what you can achieve, what does the opinions of others really matter? If you have the drive and willingness to work hard for what you want to achieve, why let anyone else stop you?
A question was put to me recently which really resonated and stuck with me.
“Why not me?”
Why not, indeed! And why not YOU? Why shouldn’t you take that risk, the one that might actually result in you being happier, freer and healthier than you have ever felt before? Why shouldn’t you follow your dreams? Why shouldn’t you become the best version of yourself?
What’s stopping you?
Have courage dear one, because, do you know what, I BELIEVE IN YOU.
YOU DESERVE TO LIVE LIFE TO IT’S FULLEST.
